- Vascular endothelial growth factor -induced neovasculature is immature and leaky. We tested if coexpression of angiopoietin-1 with VEGF improves blood-brain barrier integrity and VEGF neuroprotective and neurorestorative effects using a permanent distal middle cerebral artery occlusion model.
