Telomerase, an RNA-dependent DNA polymerase synthesizing telomeric TTAGGG sequences, is primarily silent in normal human urothelial cells , but widely activated in urothelial cell-derived carcinomas or urothelial carcinomas including UC of the bladder and upper track UC .
