The increasing prevalence of hyperuricemia has been recognized as an emerging public health concern in both developed and developing countries. Hyperuricemia is a metabolic condition characterized by an elevated serum uric acid, and associated with renal damage, diabetes, autoimmune disorders, and cardiovascular diseases.
