A novel anthracene-based microporous organic network with large surface area and good thermal and solvent stability was synthesized for rapid adsorption and removal of vanillin from water using 9,10-dibromanthrene and tetra- methane as the monomers. A novel anthracene-based microporous organic network with large surface area and good thermal and solvent stability was synthesized for rapid adsorption and removal of vanillin from water using 9,10-dibromanthrene and tetra- methane as the monomers. The adsorption kinetics and thermodynamics of A-MON for vanillin and effects of pH, ionic strength and humic acid on adsorption behavior were investigated. The results show that the adsorption of vanillin on A-MON follows the pseudo-second-order kinetic and Langmuir adsorption models, leading to the fast adsorption equilibrium within 15 min and the large maximum adsorption capacity of 285.7 mg/g. The A-MON also exhibits good reusability for vanillin. The mechanism study demonstrates that the π-π and hydrophobic interactions between A-MON and vanillin play significant roles during the adsorption. This work provides a novel adsorbent for efficient adsorption and removal of vanillin and reveals the great potential of A-MONs in environmental contaminants elimination.收起
